Bray, St Michael’s Church
This wonderful medieval church will forever be associated with the politically correct vacillations of a former vicar, made famous in the popular 18th century song, ‘The Vicar of Bray‘. The vicar (possibly a combination of several vicars) was known for changing his views with every shift in the political climate of the day, in order to maintain his position. But there is far more to St Michael’s than just the association with the [perhaps] apocryphal vicar; it is a wonderful medieval building, full of historic and architectural interest.
